Manufacturing Project 2010-2011
This year students ended our manufacturing unit by making folding camp tables. We made 18 in one class period (54 minutes) or one table every 3 minutes!! Due to high demand, we pre-sold 36 tables, so we had to run our "factory" for two days.
2008-2009 Winning Birdhouse Group!
Every year in Mr. Schadler’s 8th grade Woodworking class, the shop becomes a factory for building birdhouses. Students are divided into groups, with each group required to plan and build a prototype of a birdhouse. The class then decides which prototype to construct in our “factory.” Students then arrive to “work” with one job to do during the whole class period. Some will drill holes; others will cut pieces on saws, while others will become assemblers or quality control specialists. During the 2008-2009school year, a new record was set! Students successfully constructed 40 “High Quality” birdhouses in one class period! That’s equal to one house every 1.4 minutes!
